He grants our hearts’ desires, and fulfills all our hopes. He destroys pain and suffering; remember God in meditation, O Nanak — He is not far away. || 1 || Love Him, with whom you enjoy all pleasures. Do not forget that Lord, even for an instant; O Nanak, He fashioned this beautiful body. || 2 || PAUREE: He gave you your soul, breath of life, body and wealth; He gave you pleasures to enjoy. He gave you households, mansions, chariots and horses; He ordained your good destiny. He gave you your children, spouse, friends and servants; God is the all-powerful Great Giver. Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the body and mind are rejuvenated, and sorrow departs. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, chant the Praises of the Lord, and all your sickness shall vanish. || 3 ||
I carry the water, wave the fan, and grind the corn for the Saints; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. With each and every breath, my mind remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in this way, it finds the treasure of peace. || 1 || Have pity on me, O my Lord and Master. Bless me with such understanding, O my Lord and Master, that I may forever and ever meditate on You. || 1 || Pause || By Your Grace, emotional attachment and egotism are eradicated, and doubt is dispelled. The Lord, the embodiment of bliss, is pervading and permeating in all; wherever I go, there I see Him. || 2 || You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the Purifier of sinners, Lord of the world. I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth, even for an instant. || 3 || That alone is perfect chanting, meditation, penance and devotional worship service, which is pleasing to God’s Mind. Chanting the Naam, all thirst and desire is satisfied; Nanak is satisfied and fulfilled. || 4 || 10 ||
Nanaki was the second female as a sister in Guru Nanak Sahib’s life. She was five years older than Guru Nanak Sahib. As is the nature of Sikh life, Nanaki used to take great care of her brother. Whenever there was any incident in the house, she would take care of her brother’s interest only. It was part of her nature, but also her spiritual eye that had seen far enough that she had the honor of being the sister of the Akal Purukh’s Khas Noor. She kept this pride on her chest, her forehead and her soul all her life.
Nanki was married to Bhai Jai Ram, a senior officer of Daulat Khan Lodhi’s Nizam in Sultanpur. That is why Guru Nanak Sahib took office as Modi in Sultanpur. While Nanaki got the honor of being pampered with her brother in Talwandi for the first 15 years, she also got time to live together in Sultanpur for another three years. In Sultanpur, Nanki was the wife of a senior officer but in 1504 she started calling another senior officer Modi’s sister.
It was here that he saw how many Chowdhury and Alam Fazal used to come and learn from her brother the things of intellect, knowledge and spirituality. Seeing this, one can feel the peace and pride that will come in that sister. But, despite being older, Nanak seemed very old to her and like a child of her own age. This is evident from her personality in the Sakhis. Sikhs fondly remember her as Babe Nanaki. Nanaki probably did not have any child of her own, when did she passed away, we do not find mention of it, it is definitely known that whenever Guru Nanak Sahib returned to Punjab from Udasi, he always chose the route of Sultanpur. It was only an expression of love for his elder sister that her attraction used to bring brother to her. Even in Sakhis, the love of brother and sister is overflowing. In childhood, in Sultanpur and coming from Udasi, even in the testimonies of eating bread from the hands of the sister. This love was such that in the Punjabi culture of the last 500 years, the best example of brotherly love is Nanaki’s. Nanaki made her sister’s love immortal and she also became immortal. As long as people remember Guru Nanak’s name, they will continue to remember Nanaki’s name as well. Such pride has not been regained by any sister and probably will never be.
The first lady in Sikh history was Mata Tripta. Who gave birth to Guru Nanak Sahib. Background:Kalyan Das was born in October 1440 and Lal Chand in 1443 in the house of Guru Nanak Sahib’s grandfather Baba Shiv Narayan. In those days, this family lived in village Pathe Wind district of Amritsar. The village of Dera Baba Nanak is situated in the land of Pathe Wind village. When Kalyan Das became young, he came to Rai Bhoy’s Talwandi, which is now known as Nankana Sahib and is currently in Pakistan, for employment. Kalyan Das was married in 1461 to Tripta, daughter of Bhai Rama and Mata Bhirai, resident of village Chahal district Lahore.(Mother) Tripta gave birth to (Babe) Nanaki in 1464 and (Guru) Nanak (Sahib) in 1469. Guru Nanak Sahib was born on 20 October 1469. Guru Nanak Sahib was the successor of Akal Purakh, and his personality was ridden by God. But, childhood care came in the parts of Mata Tripta. She was the one who gave to Guru Sahib basic education, apart from this, Guru Nanak Sahib got the touch of his elder sister, great grandmother and grandmother. After a year, Guru Nanak Sahib started getting company from outsiders. Being the only son of Mata Tripta, Guru Nanak received mother’s intense love and pampering. Not much information is available about Mata Tripta. In their hands, the son grew up, became young, got married, became the father of two sons. Mother Tripta also got the pleasure of playing with her two grandsons. Guru Nanak Sahib stayed in Talwandi (Nankana Sahib) till 1504. Presently Shri Chand was 10 years old and Lakhmi Das was 7 years old. From 1504 to 1507, Guru Nanak stayed at Sultanpur and from 1507 to 1521 at Udasi. During this period, he met Mother perhaps only for a short time. In 1516, the last years of Mata Ji’s life passed in Kartarpur. She died here probably in 1522. Apart from this, no information is found about the Mata Taripta Ji. According to this, Mataji’s age will be around 80 years. Because, her husband was born in 1440 and her also between 1440 and 1445 and if she died at Kartarpur then it must have happened after 1522. Although, there is not much reference about Mataji in Tawarikh. But, one thing is certain that the mother of Guru Nanak Sahib would be proud, that the child she bore from her womb was a determined being. Before whom thousands of people used to bow their heads and in fact they used to raise their heads even before his mother. Mata Tripta raised her only son, saw the intelligence of the wise son, saw his determination, saw his dignity and took his last breath in her son’s arms. The green, warm, patient mother, the great Mata Tripta, the names of Mata Tripta’s father, Bhai Rama or brother Bhai Krishna are definitely mentioned, but there is no mention of their relationship with Guru Nanak Sahib.
